Luciana Paluzzi
Luciana Paluzzi, an Italian actress, who was a brunette with plenty of weight and a huge smile, was a star following the success of Gina Lollobrigida. After making appearances on both coasts of the Atlantic in the 1950s on films such as Three Coins in the Fountain, (1954), and Sea Fury, (1958) Luciana Paluzzi made her debut on American TV fame in the character of Simone Genet in the spy weekly Five Fingers in 1959. In 1965, she was approached by Bond producers to be considered for the role of Domino Derval, who was the principal character in Thunderball. When the role ended up going to the former Miss France, Claudine Auger Director Terence Young offered her the character of the villainess Fiona Volpe - one of the very few females on the globe who could resist the enticement of Mr. Bond and, perhaps as consequence, Fiona is killed on the dance floor by her own colleagues, after which James puts her body in a nearby table and says "Do do you mind if your friend sits it out with me? The fault is not with her. Luciana Paluzzi was able to maintain her European career during the 1970s with this blockbuster. Films like Captain Nemo & The Underwater City (in 1969), The Six Million Dollar Man (in 1973) along with The Klansman(in 1974) and The Greek Tycoon were all released during that decade.
